Matthew ZanFagna is a New York-bred, Los Angeles-based theatre director. His background in art and design bring frenetic, expressive, and saturated visuals to his collaborations. His work has been deemed “bonkers” by Rolling Stone.

Enthusiasm is the vibration ZanFagna brings to the rehearsal room. He has helped stage new work at every level of the developmental process. He’s been mentored by directors John Cameron Mitchell, Michael Arden, and Stephen Winter, and is passionate about both learning and teaching within the medium. He thrives on a limited timeline and will use all available resources to produce deliberate, fantastical choices. 

In addition to directing, Matthew is a props artisan, and has fabricated for numerous productions and theatres including Pasadena Playhouse, Boston Court, and Theatre for a New Audience, where he served as Head Properties from 2016-2020.
